Monster summary

The book the monster is about a kid named Steve, Steve is being tried for murder and he didn't even kill anyone. Steve is in jail, when he looks at himself in the mirror he see's a man he doesn't recognize he see's how jail has changed him, he feels like he's in a movie with no beginning no end,but its all real.He see's other prisoners getting into fights attacking each other putting blankets over each others heads trying to suffocate them, people getting pushed off of balconies. He wishes he had his life back he wishes he was with his family.

It is a trial that, if the jury finds him guilty, could result in the death penalty at worst, and at best, over twenty years in prison. Steve is a young filmmaker, and as a result, Myers writes the novel in two forms. Most sections open with a narrative from Steve, as written in a notebook that he keeps in prison and in the courtroom, and then close in a screenplay format, where the characters' names are given in all-capital letters and camera directions accompany the dialog.
